Switching up Beauty with the Seasons
I promise you it’s in your best interest to switch up your beauty routine each season. Okay, okay— if that feels like too much at least when it’s really hot and really cold. Temperature has a huge effect on how the skin reacts to your favorite products. Plus having different routines for the hot and cold helps the products you invest in last a lot longer. Nobody is saying you can’t tweak staples to the season either! A powder or facial mist can make a go to routine perfect all year round!
This post is also a great reference for starting a go to makeup routine🤭:
Summer sweaty skin, is dry skin
Break the following misconception: If I am sweaty, I am oily.
It’s not really that simple. You are oily, if that is your natural skin type, all year round. And all that means is that your skin craves hydration! Summer can have a way of bringing a bit more oily skin but that they aren’t always mutually exclusive. I regret so many summers when I skipped out on face moisturizer and body lotion just for the sake of not breaking out. Which, in fact, just ended up making my skin rough and flaky (and still some how break out).
Your skin will change with the seasons and we need to give her time to adjust. Sweating is actually good for your skin in the sense of not letting gunk live in your pores. We need to be careful not to over-engineer the problem at hand here.
The key to beautiful summer skin care is switching up the textures of your products. Buy lightweight lotions for your body and layer it on little bits at a time. As for your face moisturizer, opt for a dewy sunscreen. You won’t forget to reapply and you’re protected from the sun, it’s a win win.

Be careful with how many showers you take!
It could dry out your skin! You would have to lock in that moisture after every shower. PS that also means more towel laundry!!! And I love laundry as much as the next —
More importantly though, it could potentially lead to more irritations on your skin. If you use any active in your body care routine (which you should). You are also more prone to being sensitive to the sun. The mix of diligence of wearing sunscreen, plus over showering, plus lack of moisture retention puts you in a weird limbo.
I also want to you to try and experiment with fake tan! Yes, it’s a bit time consuming. Wait— It’s a perfect time for that audio book or podcast if you think about it 🤭. Fake tan saves you time and is more often than not more affordable. &&& you can get away with letting it wash away all together when you’re done with the hassle. BONUS: Fake tan is also amazing for evening out your skin tone if you have hyper pigmentation!!
Introducing Skin care Focused Makeup
Hot weather means makeup is slippery. And I gotta admit that makeup brands putting in the work towards incorporating skin care favorites like hyaluronic acid and squalene really sing to me. I BEG YOU THOUGH, please don’t forget to reapply actual sunscreen just because your base makeup says it has sunscreen in it. You need the FULL amount for adequate protection. May I recommend sunscreen sticks? Especially K-Beauty ones!
I’m in the market and here’s what caught my eye 👀
I’ve especially been hearing about this one a LOT
Serum infused skin tints have been one of my favorites this summer so far! It also has the emotional benefit of giving me a makeup base that doesn’t completely conceal my features. Features, including, freckles and pores. Skin tints are perfect for evening out your skin tone and creating a layer between your skin and outside pollutants. &&& you could even experiment with layering it! PS: it makes for crazy simple removal at night time before your night time skin care routine.(hint hint 🤭)
These kinds of makeup items are so freaking perfect for when you want to throw some makeup off but the idea of a full ritual of removing it all sounds like too much hassle. Honestly, products like this make it easier to reach for your makeup and know that your skin is still going to be well taken care of.
