Finding Fashion Confidence
The more clothes you try, the more outfits you rock. The more outfits you rock the more you experiment with different aspects. With more experimenting comes confidence. And, that, is the magic in the bottle.
Summer tends to be the season where we feel like the magnifying glass. I’m going to radicalize you, now. Embrace the seeing glass!
Look at what it shows you and mold it to fit your purpose and vision. Fashion is literally all about perception and fooling the eye. And, you could do that with your confidence in tact.
Dealing with Sweat
Let’s start with the fact that it is completely and utterly a NATURAL occurrence. You can be fashionable even being prone to sweat. Where the focus lies for us girlies that sweat— is fabric and color.
The fabric of choice might induce sweating because of the texture or weight of the piece. And the color of choice might be one that shows sweat more than intended.
There’s a lot of room to place here though, because color and fabric can be your friends. Even colors that aren’t sweat friendly can play a role in your closet! Remember that working with your body also includes adjusting for things that you can’t know for sure.
I will say that your whole closet doesn’t need to revolve around the fact that you sweat. There’s going to be materials and fits, and colors that were tittering on the edge regardless!
While sweat stains are not a pretty look, I don’t want you to leave this email thinking that it’s an end all be all. Your best friend in this is always going to be planning ahead. And, when you can’t do that, that’s okay too. Give yourself grace on that!
When in Doubt, go Bigger
Body insecurities don’t go away overnight. Even with me telling you, exclaiming, that you look amazing as you are(full post on that here). What will always feel good, is giving yourself room. Going with pieces that are boxy or even a size up or two give options. Even if that means having to sport a belt sometimes and letting it flow in others.
Having pieces that give you variety is going to give you confidence! Because it gives you control over how it is that you feel at any given body stage. This goes double for body dysmorphia because of that feeling. That not everything is on display and you can adjust. Having more room to tailor the vision.
Mixing and matching fitted and loose pieces become so much easier when we let go of the annoying little number (another full read here!). And focus on the vision! I talk a lot about the vision because that is what fashion is about. Pulling it all together to create the vision and meet the aesthetic!
Try Different Shoes
One of the simplest and funnest ways to spice up an outfit is shoes. The different a heel makes versus a fashion sneaker. Or a sport sneaker! Is astonishing. Try on multiple types of shoes when crafting an outfit. I promise, you’ll surprise yourself.
Shoes are also one of the most approachable ways to make a statement. A statement can be as simple as a platform loafer shoe. We’re looking for a shift in direction not necessarily an attention grabber.

A note on shoe shopping—
Give styles a chance to break in before buying another! You won’t know how you like a shoe until it’s truly been put through the task at hand. Whether that be a dressy shoe or a casual shoe. Let the shoes relax and flex! There’s a chance you can like a shoe brand new. And, have it end up losing that quality. Or vice versa!
